Albuquerque Teacher Residency Partnership
Every student deserves a competent, caring, and qualified teacher. To that end, the College of Education recently partnered with Albuquerque Public Schools and the Albuquerque Teachers Federation to form the Albuquerque Teacher Residency Partnership, providing Teacher Residents with an innovative and rigorous experience working with Master Teachers in the Albuquerque Public Schools.
Our program integrates rigorous academic coursework and theory with ongoing clinical experiences so that aspiring teachers are well prepared to inspire students, empower learning, and work within diverse communities. The ATRP works to guide transformative experiences, shape teacher practice, affirm the cultural identities of both teachers and students, and build a more just society.
Teacher Residents in our program receive intensive mentoring in public school classrooms while they complete their Master's coursework. All Residents graduate with an MA in Education and New Mexico Teaching License in either Elementary or Secondary Education. ATRP Residents receive an annual stipend of $14,000.
